Khasab Fort is one of the main historical attractions in Musandam. Built in the 17th century by the Portuguese and later reconstructed by the Omanis, the fort originally served to protect the coast from pirates and invaders. Today, it is not only a historical monument but also a museum, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of past centuries and better understand the strategic importance of the region.

The fort is located on a hill in the center of Khasab, which allowed for observation of the sea and protection of the port. Its massive walls, towers, and moats give the impression of a fortress capable of withstanding a prolonged siege.

The architecture of the fort combines Portuguese elements with traditional Arab construction styles, making it a unique example of Omani hybrid architecture.

Inside, the fort now houses exhibitions on local life, the history of Musandam, as well as piracy and maritime trade in the region. Visitors can see ancient weapons, maps, ship models, and household items. Touring the fort allows guests to climb observation points and enjoy panoramic views of the city, fjords, and surrounding mountains. The experience is especially striking at sunset, when the sunlight colors the fortress walls and coastal waters golden.

Khasab Fort is not only a historical site but also a cultural center. Exhibitions, workshops on traditional crafts, and events for tourists are regularly held here, making the visit enjoyable for the whole family. The fort is ideal for history, architecture, and photography enthusiasts, as well as for those who want to gain a deeper understanding of Omani culture and heritage.
